BOGOR - PT Summarecon Agung Tbk has again held a free cataract surgery social service program in celebration of the company's 50th anniversary. After previously being held in Tangerang, the social activity is now present in Bogor as a form of the company's commitment to improving access to health services for the community.

This program is based on the high number of visual impairment due to cataracts, especially among the poor. This condition is considered not only affecting the quality of life, but also impacting productivity as well as the social and economic conditions of the family.

Public enthusiasm for the program is quite high. A total of 359 people from various regions, ranging from Jabodetabek to Karawang, Bandung, and Sumedang, have registered to participate in the free operation.

After undergoing a health screening process on April 25, 2026, a total of 126 patients were declared eligible for medical treatment. This number consists of 116 cataract patients and 10 patients with pterygium, which is the condition of the growth of a thin tissue from the conjunctiva towards the cornea.

The operation was carried out on May 2, 2026 at Hermina Ciawi Hospital, Bogor, involving seven ophthalmologists and experienced medical teams. In addition to surgery, participants also received post-operative assistance in the form of medication and follow-up observation on the first and seventh days after the procedure.

Executive Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Indra W. Antono, expressed his appreciation to all parties who supported the implementation of the activity, including the United Unity Gathering, Erha Clinic, Indonesian Ophthalmologists Association (Perdami), Bogor Regency Government, Hermina Ciawi Hospital, and volunteers.

"We realize that eye health, especially cataract treatment, is an important need that has not been fully affordable by all levels of society. Through this activity, we hope to help improve the quality of life of the community," said Indra.

According to him, free cataract surgery is part of the company's social responsibility as well as a form of humanitarian concern for people who need access to health services.

The program also presents the story of the struggle of one of the participants, Eman (41), a resident of Megamendung, Bogor, who has been suffering from vision impairment due to cataracts for the past year. With limited transportation costs, Eman and his wife walked to the health center to undergo a screening process at Hermina Ciawi Hospital.

The success of the operation carried out by Eman is one of the important illustrations of the importance of social support and adequate access to health services for the community.

This free cataract surgery activity is part of the series of Summarecon Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in celebration of the company's 50th anniversary. In addition to health services, the company also carries out various other social programs such as public facility surgery, 500 house surgery program, scholarship grants, educational facilities assistance, to the Summarecon Mengajar program.

Through these various initiatives, Summarecon states its commitment to continue to make a real contribution to the community, not only through the development of the area, but also through the sustainable improvement of the quality of life of the community.
