BANTEN - Preventing stunting is one of the main focuses in improving the quality of early childhood health. This stunted condition is generally influenced by a lack of long-term nutritional intake, especially during pregnancy and early childhood.
Therefore, efforts to educate nutrition and the use of local food are considered important to help families meet their nutritional needs independently.
In Banten, the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team (TP PKK) held a cooking training based on fish for pregnant women as part of efforts to accelerate stunting prevention.
The activity which took place in Sukaresmi Village, Pandeglang Regency was also accompanied by the distribution of the Additional Food Provision (PMT) program for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.
The Chairperson of the Banten TP PKK, Tinawati Andra Soni, explained that this activity was part of direct intervention at the family level.
"Cooking training with local food ingredients such as fish is one of the important steps in preventing stunting, as well as supporting family nutrition," he said.
The selection of fish as the main ingredient is not without reason. In addition to being easy to obtain, the Sukaresmi area which is located in the coastal area has abundant protein source potential so that it can be optimally utilized by the community.
In addition to providing education, the TP PKK also distributes cooking utensils to encourage the use of local food and open up opportunities for the development of creative economy at the household level.
On the same occasion, the entourage also reviewed the beneficiaries of the nutrition program and the kitchen facilities for nutritional fulfillment services to ensure that the distribution of nutritious food runs well.
The Head of the Sukaresmi Sub-district, Tatang Fauzi, welcomed the activity and assessed that his area had great potential in supporting the nutritional needs of the community. "With this training, we hope that the community will be more skilled in processing local potential into nutritious food, so that it can help create a generation that is free of stunting," he said.
Through the approach of education and utilization of local resources, efforts to prevent stunting are expected to run more effectively. Community involvement is an important key to ensuring that family nutrition can be carried out sustainably.
