Exceeding National Targets, Tangerang Wins Highest TB Management Award

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) has appointed the Tangerang City Government (Pemkot), Banten, as an area with the best tuberculosis (TBC) indicator achievement in 2025.

The head of the Tangerang City Health Office (Dinkes), Dini Anggraeini, on Thursday in Tangerang explained that the award was given thanks to the success of the Tangerang City Government in expanding the implementation of Active Case Finding (ACF) to accelerate efforts to eliminate TB in its area.

In addition to actively making case findings, the Tangerang City Government is also able to exceed national targets in the coverage of TB detection and prevention. This award is clear evidence of the commitment and hard work of all health workers, cadres, and the community involved in efforts to eliminate TB in Tangerang City," said Dini.

He emphasized that the city government will continue to strengthen TB countermeasures to achieve the elimination target by 2030. This effort is supported by superior programs such as the TBC South Line and Active Case Finding services that are available at 39 health centers.

According to Dini, this success cannot be separated from cross-sectoral collaboration. "We are not only focused on expanding ACF services, but also working with regional apparatus, health facilities, Posyandu cadres, and the community to achieve the optimal TB elimination target," he added.

Previously, Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Benjamin Paulus Octavianus, during his visit to Tangerang City, revealed that the city managed to record the discovery of TB cases up to 126 percent far beyond the national target. The coverage of TB prevention therapy (TPT) also reached 92 percent of the national target of 72 percent.

The Deputy Minister of Health assessed that this achievement was special because it was supported by 104 urban villages with Alert TB which actively monitored environmental health. This means that people have high concern. There are residents who cough for more than two weeks immediately checked, although not necessarily TB. This proves that Tangerang City is extraordinary, including one of the best," he said.
