JAKARTA - After being closed due to flooding, the Emergency Unit (UGD) of the Muda Sedia Aceh Tamiang Hospital returned to serve the community starting Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

This opening was carried out after thorough cleaning activities that took place intensely since the floodwater receded at the end of last week. The process also involved joint personnel from the TNI, Marines, and Brimob who helped clean up mud in the hospital service area.

Director of the Junior Regional Hospital, Sedia Aceh Tamiang, dr. Andika Putra said that emergency services can now be reused by the community.

"We have prepared the emergency room again with possible facilities for initial services," he said, quoted from the official website of the Ministry of Health.

Although operations are still limited, the existence of 20 units of beds is considered sufficient to treat patients with emergency conditions. Support also came from the Ministry of Health Adam Malik Hospital in Medan which lent a number of important medical equipment, including X-ray mobile and laboratory equipment to support the initial stage of the service.

"We are fully assisted so that the ER is immediately active," said dr. Andika.

In addition to the ER, the hospital is also preparing to gradually open hemodialysis services and pharmacy installations, waiting for all areas to be cleaned.

With the re-function of this ER, RSUD Muda Sedia is the only emergency service facility operating in the Aceh Tamiang region after the flood disaster.

Field observations show a number of residents starting to visit the ER with complaints of injuries due to flooding. The injuries are generally caused by sharp objects such as zinc pieces, nails, and various household materials that have been swept away by the current.

According to dr. Andika, most of the patients who came suffered injuries with mild to moderate categories

"Residents are usually injured due to conditions in a mud-filled environment", he explained.

Although the condition of hospital facilities has not fully recovered, medical personnel continue to provide initial treatment to people in need. For the time being, emergency services are still relying on loan medical equipment while waiting for the repair of equipment damaged by the flood.

He also reminded residents to be more vigilant when cleaning houses and the surrounding environment to avoid the risk of additional injuries after the disaster.
