In his remarks, the Head of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association, Dr. dr. Piprim Basarah Yanuarso, SpA, Subsp. Kardio(K) emphasized, "At the momentum of this year's National Health Day, IDAI reminds that every child protected by immunization is a candidate for future leader. To realize the Generation of Indonesia Gold 2045, we must ensure that their health foundation is strong from an early age. The challenges of complex immunization, from the logistical aspects to socio-cultural aspects, must be overcome together with collaboration and innovation. This workshop is a real step for IDAI and all partners to equalize steps, strengthen advocacy, and ensure that children's rights to healthy and protected life are met."
IDAI also emphasizes that Immunization is one of the most 'cost-effective' health interventions and has saved millions of children's lives. However, the challenges we face are increasingly complex, not only technically medical but also social and cultural.
In this workshop, it will discuss multi-dimensional challenges in immunization programs, ranging from logistical constraints in archipelagic and rural areas, post-immunization follow-up management (AEFI), to strategic issues such as multiple injections and vaccine doubts. Special sessions will also be devoted to building stakeholder support with a cultural approach and utilizing social media for effective health communication.
Dr. Navien Thacker, Executive Director of the International Pediatric Association (IPA), who will also host a session on handling misinformation, added: Indonesia's commitment to building the 2045 Golden Generation is very visionary. Children's health is key to this great vision. In the battle against vaccine misinformation, the role of pediatricians and health workers as reliable sources is non-negotiable. The active participation of national pediatrician associations, such as IDAI, is crucial to lead efforts to counter misinformation with appropriate, clear, and empathetic science communication. The experience and innovation that will be shared in this workshop, is not only valuable to Indonesia, but also a valuable lesson for the global health community in strengthening health resilience which is the foundation for the progress of a nation. We at IDA fully support IDAI's steps.
In Experience Sharing Workshop: Pediatric Association Advocacy for Immunization Priorities, key discussion topics include;1.
