JAKARTA - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin revealed that the Indonesian government is monitoring the development of the Enteromix cancer vaccine found in Russia.

The mRNA-based vaccine has recently attracted the attention of the medical world after it was reported to have reached 100% efficacy in clinical trials and was declared safe without serious side effects.

"I've heard that, I've also talked to several companies that made this," Budi said at the Ministry of Health Office, Jakarta on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Budi explained that currently Enteromix is still in the clinical trial phase in Russia.

"Now there is a clinical trial or trial of a drug for this cancer, similar to a vaccine," he said.

Budi said the Ministry of Health had sent a team to learn more.

"I have sent a team to be able to learn whether the clinical trial can be done in Indonesia," he said.

It is known that the Enteromix vaccine was developed by the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA). The head of FMBA, Veronica Skvortsova, said that this vaccine is designed according to RNA for each patient, so it is very personal.

The first form of the Enteromix vaccine will be used for colorectal cancer, while other variants are being prepared for glioblastoma (brain cancer) and melanoma (skin cancer).

"This vaccine is able to reduce the size of the tumor, slow the growth of cancer cells, and is safe to use repeatedly," Skvortsova said, quoted from the Times of India page.

Enteromix uses technology similar to the COVID-19 vaccine, namely mRNA. The mechanism trains the immune system to recognize and destroy cancer cells. The difference is, unlike chemotherapy or radiotherapy which often causes severe side effects, this vaccine is well tolerated by patients.

Early-stage clinical trials involved 48 volunteers and were developed by the Russian Ministry of Health's National Medical Research Radiology Center with the Stagehardt Institute of Molecular Biology (EIMB) from the Russian Academy of Sciences.

This research was first presented at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025). The results show that Enteromix is effective in slowing tumor growth, even in some cases it can destroy it.

According to MedPath's report, this vaccine utilizes four tame viruses to attack the tumor while strengthening the immune system.

With the success of clinical trials, the next step is to obtain a regulatory permit. If approved, Enteromix will be the world's first personalized mRNA cancer vaccine for patients.

"This could be a new hope for thousands of patients around the world." Sputnik wrote in his report.
