JAKARTA - CdLS stands for Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. This is a rare genetic disorder that affects a person's body growth and development, such as motor, bone, joints, and cognitiveness.

"CdLS is a genetic mutation disorder, so far it is not known what the cause is," said Director of the CdLS Indonesia Foundation, Dian Kurniati, during the launch of the Bakmi GM and MIWA Pattern collaborations, in the Blok M area, Jakarta, on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

With the unknown cause, the handling of CdLS is difficult to do so far. Moreover, CdLS is often misunderstood as autism and still lacks attention from the public and even the government.

In fact, CdLS and autism are two different conditions, where CdLS patients have distinctive physical characteristics and other developmental problems that are not always present in autism.

"The child with CdLS has a whole body health problem. From eye problems, hearing loss, eyebrows are connected, always smiling, don't know pain," he explained.

"CdLS survivors need intensive medical care to overcome the various health complications they suffer. This is what distinguishes CdLS from autism," he added.

Therefore, it takes the role of the government and collaboration with the private sector to help treat CdLS and educate about the disease further to the community. As is the case with the collaboration of Bakmi GM and MIWA Pattern which presents 'Double Happiness'.

This collaboration serves a variety of delicious foods with merchandise from Mira Heong designer motifs, such as dresses, bags, and accessories.

"This spirit of sharing happiness is what we put forward through a unique collaboration with Mira Hoeng designers. We hope that this motive can represent our aspirations to bring happiness to our consumers," said Bakmi GM Business Development Director, Tammy Tanimihardja.

The collaboration aims to spread happiness, including those with CdLS, and some of the proceeds from the sale will be dedicated to supporting foundations for children holding CdLS.

"We are trying to socialize information, provide public information about CdLS, so events like this are really needed," concluded the Founder and CEO of MIWA Pattern, Mira Hoeng Designer.
