JAKARTA - The Indonesian Cosmetics Company Association (PERKOSMI) is again holding the 14th Indonesian Cosmetic Ingredients (ICI), the biggest cosmetic and raw material innovation event in Indonesia, which this year carries the theme "Beauty, Innovation and Technology for the Future Trends". Lasting from 14-16 May 2025 at Hall D and A3 JIExpo Kemayoran, ICI 2025 was held on a larger scale than in previous years.
One of the activities initiated by ICI 2025 is 26 seminar sessions and two talk shows with competent speakers from within and outside the country, who discuss the latest trends in the cosmetics industry, skin care, hair care, regulatory updates, environmentally friendly formulations, and various other interesting topics.
The General Chairperson of PERKOSMI said that ICI 2025 is here as a forum for networking, displaying the latest innovations and opening up new business opportunities for cosmetic industry players in Indonesia.
"Through the ICI 2025 implementation, including through seminar sessions held every day, PERKOSMI hopes that Indonesian cosmetics industry activists can continue to improve with the latest trends and technologies in the world of cosmetics, as well as be able to produce innovative, safe and international standard cosmetics," said Sancoyo.
He added that the Indonesian beauty and cosmetic industry continues to grow rapidly, where cosmetic products themselves have now become an essential daily need, as well as a very important economic source for Indonesia.
However, it is undeniable that the beauty industry in today's digitalization era faces various challenges, such as excessive product claims, reviews and ratings that can be misleading, to the rampant circulation of counterfeit and illegal products.
"We, as consumers, need to be wiser in choosing products that are safe and of high quality. The participation of various parties is needed, especially the government in encouraging more responsible communication and marketing," he continued.
On the same occasion, Ephraim Jeremia Caraen, SH, M. Hum, Trade Analyst, Directorate of Consumer Empowerment of the Ministry of Trade added, in order to realize commitments to consumer protection, especially in this digital era, the Ministry of Trade has also taken a role in creating a healthy, fair and transparent trading ecosystem.
"We also stipulate regulations governing consumer protection, including the obligations and marketing ethics that business actors need to comply with and collaborate with various parties to educate consumers and take action against illegal products," said Ephraim.
A Content Creator who attended, Ilham Nur Karim also conveyed that indicators such as ratings, reviews, and sales have an important role in making consumer decisions when choosing beauty products.
"But in today's digital era, these indicators can be easily manipulated. Therefore, I invite consumer friends to be more careful in choosing products by ensuring product credibility and not being easily tempted to see cheap products," he explained.
