Meghan Markle Akui Alami Preeklamsia After Giving Birth To First Child

JAKARTA - Meghan Markle, who is now holding the Duchess of Sussex, admitted that she had experienced serious medical conditions, namely preeclampsia after giving birth. This confession was conveyed in the inaugural episode of her latest podcast entitled Confessions of a Female Founder with Meghan, in a conversation with the founder of the Bumble application, Whitney Wolfe Herd.

Meghan revealed that she and Herd have something in common. Both of them had experienced disorders after the same delivery, namely preeclampsia.

"It turns out that we both experienced something very similar, even though at that time we didn't know each other, namely the post-birth period, and we both experienced preeclampsia. Preeclamsia after giving birth," said Meghan, quoted from the NBC News page.

"Can you believe that we both have that? It's very rare," said Herd.

"It's very rare. And very scary. You still have to face a lot of things, and the world out there doesn't know what's going on, everything is going on in silence," Meghan said.

"And in that silence, you are still trying to be there for people. And in that silence, you are also still trying to be present, especially for your children. But this is a very serious health problem," he continued.

"This can be a matter of life or death, really," said Herd.

Preeclamsia after giving birth is a rare but serious condition related to high blood pressure and can occur up to six weeks after giving birth. If not treated, this condition could cause stroke, brain damage, seizures, and even death, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

This condition is different from the usual preeclamacy that occurs during pregnancy. A person may experience preeclampsia after giving birth even though he did not experience this disease while pregnant.

Herd then recalled the moment when Meghan first introduced her first child, Archie, to the public after giving birth.

"I will never forget the picture of you after giving birth to Archie, when the whole world is waiting for the moment of introduction," said Herd.

"After giving birth is really crazy, really crazy. It feels like one leg in one world, one leg in another, and it's a very confusing place to live." he added.
