JAKARTA - Quality human resources (HR) are the result of proper parenting from an early age. The role of parents is very important in shaping children's mental character, values, and health.

A warm family environment, good communication, and education positive values are the main foundations in creating a healthy generation physically and mentally.

In addition to the role of family, support for the educational environment and society also plays an important role in shaping children to become tough and quality individuals.

The Minister of Health (Menkes) of the Republic of Indonesia 2014-2019, Nila Moeloek, emphasized the importance of maintaining the physical and mental health of children in order to present quality Indonesian human resources.

"We need to prepare children to become quality human resources. For that, we have to take care not only of their physicalities, but also of their mentality," Nila said while in Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.

According to Nila, children are vulnerable to mental health problems due to various pressures, both at home and at school. Research conducted by the Health Collaborative Center (HCC) and the Indonesian Health Focus (FKI) with the BUMN Foundation show that 34 percent of high school students in Jakarta have indications of mental health problems.

"Of the 10 children, about three to four of them experience emotional disorders such as being easily angry and tend to fight due to emotional mental disorders," said Nila, who also serves as Executive Director of FKI.

As a precautionary measure, Nila supports the implementation of the Mental Hearing Zone program in schools initiated by the BUMN Foundation. This program is expected to help overcome children's emotional problems, especially in Jakarta.

"This activity is expected to help them overcome emotional problems so they don't fall into stress or depression," added Nila.

The Jiwa Hearing Zone includes various activities, such as emotional recognition, breathing techniques, and group discussions. In addition, the BUMN Foundation provides facilities in the form of story booths, self-checks, and vent walls so that students can express their emotional condition anonymously.

In addition to focusing on students, this program also provides training to teachers in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and early detection of mental health problems. This training is equipped with interactive materials such as digital wall magazines, QR codes, and other digital learning sources.
