Kate Middleton thanked those who have supported her family during the nearly-a-year trip, including The Royal Marsden hospital where she was being treated.

"I sincerely thank everyone who has walked quietly with William and me while we were going through everything. We couldn't ask for more. The attention and suggestions we received as long as I was a patient were extraordinary," he said.

Middleton also conveyed in his new role as the Joint Protecter of The Royal Marsden, his hope that by supporting innovative research breakthroughs and clinical excellence, as well as promoting the well-being of patients and families.

"We can save more lives, and change the experiences of everyone affected by cancer," he said.
