Prabowo Claims Ojol Income Increases Thanks to New Rules

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the income of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers had increased significantly. Prabowo said this was because the government had encouraged a more equitable distribution of results between drivers and application companies.

"Previously, the ojol driver could only get 80 percent of their work effort because the app asked for 20 percent," said Prabowo in his speech at the 2026 MPR RI Annual Meeting and Joint Meeting of the DPR-DPD RI at the MPR/DPR RI Building, Friday, August 14.

Because of the inequality of the pieces, he continued, the government then gave recommendations regarding the distribution of the results.

"Drivers now get 92 percent of their hard work," said Prabowo.

In fact, he admitted that he received reports from drivers regarding significant income increases.

"Many drivers report that their income has increased significantly, some have increased twice, and some even say it has increased three times," he said.

He also joked about the government's role in changing the distribution of the results. He said the government used the term "recommendation", although he admitted there was an element of intervention.

"I don't want to call it an intervention, I use the term recommendation, but actually it is also a bit of an intervention," said Prabowo.
