Pertamina Lubricants Exports 11,000 KL of Lubricants Per Year, from Tuhuan Korea to Tazmania

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina Lubricants reported that, to date, the average export of lubricants carried out has reached 11,000 kiloliters (KL) per year.

Manager of the Jakarta Production Unit, PT Pertamina Lubricants Dody Arief Aditya, said that of the 118,999 KL distributed to customers, 3 percent or 11,000 KL were sent to customers abroad.

"The key accounts are around 118,000 KL, then overseas it is seen that overseas is still not too high, around 11,000 KL per year or around 3 percent," Dody told the media, Wednesday, August 12.

Dody detailed that the figure included the distribution of lubricants to 16 destination countries, including South Korea, South Africa, Bangladesh, China, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand, Nigeria, Yemen, East Timor, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and Tanzania.

Dody said that although it only contributed 11 percent, this achievement showed a stable growth trend in the global market.

"A little picture of the purpose of our export country, the most recent one is Tanzania in Africa, there is the Philippines, maybe the longest one is 2007 yes Korea. South Korea has been since 2007, then Japan, Australia, Singapore and so on," said Dody.

Furthermore, Dody also mentioned that the different needs and characteristics in each country make it necessary for companies to make adjustments to the lubricant products they export.

"This export product is unique, at least in terms of language, it is different, so the labels on the product must be different. For Japan it is different, for China it is different, for other regions it is also different," he continued.

To support lubricant production, Dody said Pertamina Lubricants has a Mini Lubricant Oil Blending Plant (LOBP) facility that is focused on meeting export product needs.

The capacity of the facility reaches around 3,000 kiloliters (KL), much smaller than the main LOBP which has a capacity of 270,000 KL.

"This plant is actually focused on supporting the products that we export," he said.

Meanwhile, small-scale production at the main facility is considered less economical, Dody said his party is preparing a special facility that is more suitable for producing various export market needs.

"The volume is small. So our export market is not as big as the domestic market, so if we produce in our main plant, it is less economical. In the end, we make a Mini LOBP plant that focuses on export products," said Dody.
