JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) is preparing an initiative called We Buy From Indonesia to strengthen national trade and exports. Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Chairman Anindya Bakrie said the initiative is not just a catalog, but a technology and trade platform.

Anindya said this in front of President Prabowo Subianto during the meeting of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) throughout Indonesia at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31.

According to Anindya, many Indonesian products have become part of the global supply chain. He said products from Indonesia are used by various global companies, including Tesla, Airbus, Kia, and IKEA.

"This is an initiative that is not only a catalog but it is a technology and trade platform," said Anindya.

Anindya said Kadin saw export values of around US$300 billion a year. Of that amount, around US$60 billion comes from coal, stainless steel, and palm oil.

Meanwhile, around US$ 240 billion comes from other sectors. In it there are supply chains and Kadin members spread across various sectors.

"Our task is how to increase purchases from existing clients at this time and increase capacity rather than the producers in Indonesia," he said.

Anindya said the platform was created in three languages, namely Indonesian, English, and Chinese. Kadin also coordinates with ministries, especially the Ministry of Trade, to ensure that the data used is good.

According to Anindya, the data is also expected to help the government know the value of Indonesian exports more clearly.

Anindya said this initiative was in line with foreign economic diplomacy efforts. He said Kadin also formed the Kadin Global Engagement Office or Kadin GEO to ensure that trade agreements and economic cooperation could be utilized more optimally by business actors.
