JAKARTA - The Illegal Financial Activities Eradication Task Force (Satgas PASTI) has stopped the operation of the Snapboost platform which is suspected of carrying out fraudulent practices under the guise of social media monetization.
The platform offers a Click to Earn (C2E) scheme with the promise of income from simple activities, such as liking (like) and sharing (share) content on various social media (social media).
The Secretariat of the Task Force for Eradicating Illegal Financial Activities, Hudiyanto, explained that Snapboost allegedly offered an illegal investment scheme by requiring participants to deposit a certain amount of funds before they could complete various tasks, such as giving likes to content on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok.
"In addition, Snapboost promises daily income, bonuses based on membership levels, commissions on recruiting new members (member get member), and prizes in the form of motorcycles and cars for members who deposit funds in a certain amount," he said in a statement, Tuesday, July 28.
Based on the results of coordination, Snapboost is known to have no legal entity and business license in Indonesia and the application/website used is not recorded as an Electronic System Operator (PSE) at the Ministry of Communication and Digital RI.
He added that the PASTI Task Force also found indications that the perpetrators periodically changed the link address (URL) by using different names, but still maintained the same appearance, features, and operational mechanisms so that they were suspected of being related to each other.
"Following up on the findings that could potentially harm the community, the PASTI Task Force has stopped the activities in question and immediately blocked access to the application and related links (URL)," he said.
Hudiyanto said the PASTI Task Force also coordinated with law enforcement officials for further enforcement processes in accordance with applicable regulations.
"The public who feel harmed by these activities are urged to immediately report to the local law enforcement to expedite the handling process," he explained.
He added that the PASTI Task Force again reminded the public to always be careful of investment offers and financial activities that promise high profits in a short time or are illogical, including those that require initial deposit of funds and operate through sites or applications that often change link addresses, but still use similar display, features, and operational mechanisms.
"If you find indications of illegal online investment or loan offers, the public can report them through sipasti.ojk.go.id, OJK Contact 157, WhatsApp 081157157157, or email: [email protected]," he said.
Meanwhile, Hudiyanto added that people who are victims of financial transaction fraud can also report through the Indonesia Anti-Scam Center (IASC) at iasc.ojk.go.id to support the acceleration of blocking the perpetrators' accounts and further handling efforts.
