JAKARTA - Learning activities at the Integrated People's School (SRT) 1 Kupang Regency have started since July 13, 2026.

However, the government is still rushing to complete supporting infrastructure, especially the improvement of access roads to the school area so that the activities of students and teachers are safer and more comfortable.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that improving access to schools was one of the priorities even though the People's School operation was running.

As of July 16, 2026, the overall progress of the education area development has reached 93.98 percent.

"We must ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are really ready to support the children's learning. What has not been completed will be completed immediately, especially access to schools, so that all learning activities can run well," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Saturday, July 18.

Currently, the PU Ministry is preparing work to improve access to the school area by repairing about 5 kilometers of roads, including the main road and alternative routes (shortcuts). The work is targeted to be completed in August 2026.

According to Dody, the construction of the People's School does not only focus on providing school buildings, but also ensuring that all supporting infrastructure is available, so that students can learn in a decent environment.

The Integrated People's School (SRT) 1 Kupang Regency was built as an integrated education area that serves the levels of elementary, middle and high schools with the boarding concept.

The area is equipped with various facilities, ranging from classrooms, male and female dormitories, teachers' apartments, libraries, computer laboratories, language laboratories, and science laboratories.

Then, there is the UKS room, counseling room, canteen at every level of education, public kitchen, multipurpose building, house of worship, sports field, and supporting utilities such as power houses, pump houses, and garbage disposal sites (TPS).

A number of priority buildings have been completed 100 percent and have been utilized, including high school buildings, Putra SD 1 Dormitory, Putri SD 2 Dormitory, worship buildings, kitchens, SD, SMP and high school canteens, power houses, pump houses and TPS.

Meanwhile, the construction of elementary and junior high schools, a number of dormitories, teachers' apartments and other supporting facilities is still ongoing gradually without disturbing the learning activities that have begun.

Dody appreciated all parties involved in the construction, so that the Integrated People's School 1 Kupang Regency could be functional.

He also asked all the remaining work to be completed immediately, especially the improvement of road access and other supporting infrastructure.

On this occasion, Dody also encouraged students to take advantage of the learning opportunities provided by the government.

"The spirit must be maintained. Study diligently, don't forget to pray to your parents. You all have to be successful. Our job is to ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are available so that you can study comfortably," he said.

The Head of the SRT 1 School of Kupang Regency, Felipina Agustina Kale, expressed his appreciation for the government's commitment to continue improving school facilities even though educational activities had begun.

"We are very grateful because the government not only builds school buildings, but also continues to ensure that all supporting facilities are equipped. The presence of the Minister is an encouragement for us to provide the best education services to children," he said.

Overall, SRT 1 Kupang Regency has a capacity of 1,080 people. Currently, the school has been inhabited by 246 students consisting of 20 elementary school students, 112 junior high school students, and 114 high school students.
