Red and White Cooperative Cannot Be Political Gifts, Villages That Do Not Choose Prabowo Still Get

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Red and White Village and Kelurahan Cooperatives should not be distributed based on political choices. The program will still be present in areas that did not choose him or the Gerindra Party in the election.

The statement was made by Prabowo at the 79th National Cooperative Day Summit at Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, July 12, 2026.

"The cooperative will be in all villages, in all areas. It doesn't matter whether the village chooses Gerindra or not," said Prabowo.

He also ensured that the results of the presidential election in a district would not determine whether or not the program would be implemented.

"It doesn't matter whether Prabowo wins or not in the district. I'm not the president of Gerindra. I'm not the president of anyone. I'm the president of all Indonesians," he said.

This statement is important because the Red and White Cooperative is designed to be a center for various economic services in the village. The cooperative will manage basic necessities, savings, cheap credit, village pharmacies, cold storage, to the distribution of subsidized goods.

The government targets cooperatives to be present in around 81 thousand villages and sub-districts. This figure follows the number of villages and sub-districts throughout Indonesia.

Prabowo said that more than a thousand cooperatives have been operating. The number is expected to increase to 5,000 to 6,000 in the near future.

He asked that the implementation of the program not be caught up in group interests or political competition. According to Prabowo, differences in election choices should not hinder the government's service to the community.

He also asked all political forces to work together again after the election was over.

"We compete, then unite. Work for all people. This is the Indonesian nation," he said.

Prabowo stated that the government still accepted criticism of the program. However, he asked that criticism be directed as a correction, not an excuse to hinder the implementation of policies.

"Criticism is good. That means correction. We want to accept criticism," he said.
