CIKARANG - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has spoken out about the gas supply constraints in western Java that have plagued the industry. Head of the Tegalgede District of Pertamina Gas Fari Akhdiar Rachmad revealed that this gas supply constraint will be resolved after the Ruas Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur (Cisem II) Natural Gas Transmission Pipe is operational.

"The point is, if this Cisem is connected, then everything is integrated. It's just that the excess gas from East Java can be channeled to West Java," Fari told the media when met at the Tegal Gede District Gas Compressor Station, West Java, quoted on Thursday, July 9.

Fari added that later, if it is supplied with gas, this transmission pipe can meet the needs of industry in West Java.

"In the end, the needs that were short (suffering from scarcity), the demand can be met with that," explained Fari.

Met on the same occasion, Pertamina Gas Sulthani Adil Mangatur's Corporate Secretary explained that the Cisem pipeline network has now been integrated with the national gas transmission system connecting Sumatra to East Java.

"For the Cisem pipeline itself, it consists of two phases, namely phase 1 from Semarang to Batang and phase 2 from Batang to Kandang Haur Timur. The pipeline is now connected and integrated," continued Sulthani.

He explained, "He added, this connectivity will also strengthen the flexibility of gas distribution to various user segments.

"The distribution is not only limited to the industrial sector. Commercial and household sectors can also be supported by the gas transportation here," he said.

As for this transmission gas project, Pertagas acts as a transmission pipeline network operator that has been appointed by the government to operate the Cisem infrastructure.

Thus, he ensured that his party was ready to distribute gas if the supply and needs of customers (off-takers) were available.

"In principle, we from Pertagas as operators are ready if there will be gas to be distributed or also from off-takers who are ready to welcome the supply," said Sulthani.
