Brantas Abipraya Accelerates Completion of Bulango Ulu Dam, Progress Achieved 94.99 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) continues to accelerate the completion of the construction of the Bulango Ulu Dam in Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. The progress of the National Strategic Project (PSN) construction has now reached 94.99 percent.

The Bulango Ulu Dam is projected to be an important infrastructure to support food security, water security, flood control, and the provision of renewable energy in Gorontalo.

Brantas Abipraya Corporate Secretary, Dian Sovana, said the Bulango Ulu Dam is one of the projects that has a strategic role in strengthening national food security while improving people's welfare.

"Bulango Ulu Dam is one of the National Strategic Projects which is an important part of strengthening national food security. Through its accelerated completion, we hope that this dam can increase agricultural productivity, ensure water availability, support renewable energy, and encourage the economic growth of the people of Gorontalo," said Dian in a statement. official, Thursday, June 25.

The Bulango Ulu Dam has a holding capacity of 140.95 million cubic meters with an effective volume of 58.61 million cubic meters. After operating, this dam will irrigate about 4,950 hectares of agricultural land in the Alale, Lomaya, and Pilohayanga Irrigation Areas.

In addition to supporting the agricultural sector, the dam will also provide raw water of 2.2 cubic meters per second to meet the needs of households and industries in the Gorontalo region.

Another benefit, the Bulango Ulu Dam is projected to be able to reduce the risk of flooding in the downstream area of the Bolango River by more than 80 percent. This infrastructure will also support the development of environmentally friendly energy through a 4.96 megawatt micro-hydro power plant (PLTMH).

Not only that, the flood area of the dam also has the potential to be developed into a tourist destination and a water sports center that can drive the economy of the surrounding community.

In terms of construction, this project is built using rockfill dam technology with vertical core or upright core rock which is equipped with spillways, bypass tunnels, and high standard hydromechanical facilities.

The application of construction innovations in the project even managed to set a MURI Record through a Free Over Flow Elevated spillway tunnel with the highest slope and width in Indonesia.

Dian said that as a contractor, Brantas Abipraya targets the completion of the project in accordance with quality standards, occupational safety, and good corporate governance to support the national development agenda, especially the Government's Asta Cita program in the food and water resources sectors.

Furthermore, Dian said the success of infrastructure development is not only determined by the physical achievement of the project, but also the governance that is applied during the construction process.
