JAKARTA - PT SiCepat Ekspres Indonesia expressed its support for efforts to consolidate the national logistics industry to reduce logistics costs, which are still a challenge for Indonesia's digital economic growth.
The commitment was declared by PT SiCepat Ekspres Indonesia CEO Barry Lim together with Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid in the Digital Ecosystem Alignment (DEAL) 2026 forum at the Tribrata Convention Center, Jakarta. The agreement is one of the eight Deal Packages produced in the forum to consolidate the national digital ecosystem.
This step is aimed at answering the problem of Indonesia's logistics costs, which still reach around 14 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In addition, the distribution cost disparity between Java Island and outside Java is still in the range of 20 to 40 percent.
According to Barry, the transformation of the logistics sector can no longer be done on its own. Collaboration between industry players is considered to be a way to increase efficiency while expanding the reach of distribution services.
"Consolidation of the logistics industry is not an option, but an inevitability. SiCepat is ready to be an active part of this transformation," said Barry Lim, Tuesday, June 23.
The consolidation push comes amid rapid growth in the national digital economy. The e-commerce sector is currently the largest contributor to Indonesia's digital economy and supports the activities of millions of business actors, ranging from MSMEs to brands and merchants in various regions.
On the other hand, the postal and courier industry, which handles more than 25 million packages every day, is the backbone of the movement of goods in the digital ecosystem. Therefore, logistics efficiency is considered to play an important role in ensuring that the benefits of digital economic growth are not only concentrated on Java Island.
Barry emphasized that the collaboration built was not limited to the interests of each company's business, but also to strengthen the competitiveness of national logistics.
"Sharing infrastructure, collaborating on technology, and together building an efficient delivery network to all corners of Indonesia. This is our commitment to the nation, not just to business," he said.
In the DEAL 2026 forum, SiCepat was included in the national logistics consolidator cluster along with a number of other large shipping companies. The signed declaration includes operational cooperation, the use of shared infrastructure and technology, to strengthening the competitiveness of domestic logistics players in the midst of increasing competition with global players.
As part of this commitment, SiCepat also displays an electric vehicle fleet and introduces the Sales & Drop Point (S&DP) program. This program is aimed at opening up opportunities for local business actors to become official delivery points while expanding the logistics network to the grassroots level.
