JAKARTA - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) emphasizes the importance of job creation as the key to driving national economic growth amid various global challenges.

The effort is considered necessary to be supported through increased trade, acceleration of industrialization, and strengthening of investment so that the business world continues to grow.

The affirmation was conveyed by the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Anindya Bakrie, during the Public Hearing (RDPU) related to the Draft Law (RUU) of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) with the DPR RI Legislation Agency (Baleg) in Jakarta, Wednesday, June 17.

Anindya in his written statement said, the current Kadin Law Number 1 of 1987 has been the foundation of the organization for decades.

However, global economic developments, geopolitical changes, and digital transformation require adjustments so that the business world is able to respond to challenges and take advantage of existing opportunities.

According to him, the presence of Kadin in the RDPU is aimed at conveying various aspirations of business actors from across Indonesia so that the business world can continue to grow, develop, and adapt to changes in time.

"Because we see the essence is how the business world can continue to grow and also work together and also rise in class," he said, quoted by Antara, Thursday, June 18.

Anindya explained that Kadin as a large house of the business world that shelters various associations, gatherings, and provincial Kadin continues to strive to become a strategic partner of the government in encouraging national economic growth.

"So the point is how we can together help the government as a strategic partner. But the most important thing is how to make the Indonesian economy move forward," he said.

Furthermore, Anindya emphasized that job creation must be the main focus of national economic development. He said Indonesia needs around 4 million to 5 million new jobs every year to absorb the growing workforce.

He added that all discussions with the DPR were directed to support the progress of the business world as well as realize the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

According to him, the direction of Indonesia's economic development is currently on the right track, although it still requires acceleration and modernization.

"Yes, the point is for Indonesia. How do we make the business world advance, grow continuously. To Indonesia Gold 2045. In the midst of many challenges. And also a lot of people who say the term Indonesia is where it is going. But we see the direction is right. It just has to be accelerated and modernized," he concluded.
