PAGKALPINANG - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of the Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) ensures that the food stock of a number of commodities is sufficient to meet the needs of the community during the celebration of the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 Hijriah with the smooth supply from the production center area.
Head of the Babel Islands Disperindag, Subekti Saputra in Pangkalpinang, Tuesday, said that the results of monitoring officers at 11 warehouses of chili and onion distributors on Bangka and Belitung Islands were obtained from 41.7 tons of red onion, 11.8 tons of garlic, 0.9 tons of chili rawit and one ton of large chili.
"These stocks of onions and chilies will continue to increase, because business actors are continuously adding supplies to meet the needs of the community in this area," he said.
He said that currently the price of onions and chilies has dropped because the stock is quite abundant.
The price of curly red chilies in a number of markets in Pangkalpinang City has dropped to Rp. 49,000 per kilogram compared to the previous day's Rp. 51,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, large red chilies have dropped to Rp. 48,000 compared to the previous Rp. 50,000 per kilogram.
Likewise, the price of green chili dropped to Rp64,000 compared to the previous day's Rp66,000 per kilogram, red chili remained at Rp60,000 per kilogram.
The price of red onions also fell to Rp. 48,000 compared to previously Rp. 50,000 per kilogram, garlic fell to Rp. 38,000 compared to previously Rp. 39,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, shallots remained at Rp. 38,000 per kilogram.
"The demand for chili and onions during this Islamic New Year is still relatively normal, even tends to decrease because of the economic conditions of the community which is still sluggish," he said.
Meanwhile, he said that the stock of purebred chicken and cattle meat was sufficient to meet the needs of the community in this year's Islamic New Year.
The stock of purebred chicken meat at five Babel distributors on Monday (15/6) reached 384.3 tons and did not include the addition of 75 tons of stock by distributors, so the total was 459.3 tons. If added to chicken meat at the retail level, it is estimated that stocks in Babel will reach 500 tons.
Based on the results of monitoring the price of chicken meat in a number of traditional and modern markets in Pangkalpinang City, the price of purebred chicken meat has dropped to Rp30,000 per kilogram compared to the previous day which reached Rp31,000 per kilogram, while kampung chicken meat remained at Rp80,000 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, the price of beef from the hind leg is IDR 148,000 per kilogram, beef from the front leg is IDR 148,000 per kilogram, beef from the sandung lamur is IDR 126,000 per kilogram, and beef from the tetelan is IDR 85,000 per kilogram.
"The demand for chicken and beef during the Islamic New Year holiday is still relatively normal, so it does not affect the price of meat which tends to decrease," he said.
He said that so far, in order to meet the public's demand for chicken and beef, business actors still rely on supplies from outside the region such as Sumatra and Java Islands. And the supply from the commodity production centers runs smoothly during this Islamic New Year celebration.
