Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, PKB Faction, Sudjatmiko, ensured that construction was carried out according to target, quality, and prioritizing child safety and environmental sustainability. This was conveyed after conducting a working visit to the People's School Complex in Bekasi Regency

Sudjatmiko highlighted a number of important things, ranging from progress in construction, potential cost deviations, to the quality of facilities that will be used by students later. He emphasized that the People's School is a strategic government program that must be built with careful planning so that it can become a safe and comfortable educational facility for children from poor families.

"We see that there are still deviations in work that need to be immediately mitigated. Don't let technical and management issues hinder this very noble program. Therefore, I encourage a thorough review of the design so that the project can run more efficiently and on time," said Sudjatmiko.

According to him, the deviation of work which reached around 20 percent should be a serious concern. He assessed that the pattern of implementing subcontracts and managing project cash flows needed to be improved so as not to interfere with the progress of construction in the field.

Apart from the construction aspect, Sudjatmiko also pays great attention to environmental management in the People's School area. He assessed that development is not enough to provide a pond or water storage pond, but must also be equipped with a seepage well to maintain groundwater balance.

"If you just make a water reservoir without paying attention to groundwater recharge, in the long run it can cause problems. The building structure may remain safe, but other facilities such as roads, sports fields, and public areas have the potential to experience subsidence or cracking. This will certainly increase maintenance costs later," he explained.

Sudjatmiko also asked that the safety of children be the main priority in building design. He reminded that students of the People's School, especially grades 1 to 4, still need extra supervision and protection.

"Classes and dormitories must be designed to be safe. If there are two-story buildings, the windows must have adequate security. Don't let there be gaps that can endanger children. Their safety must be the main standard in construction," said the PKB legislator.

Not only that, he also highlighted the quality of sanitation facilities. According to him, bathrooms and toilets must use strong materials and be resistant to damage so that they can be used in the long term.

"Don't just chase aesthetics. The bathroom door, sanitation, and all supporting facilities must have good quality standards because they will be used by many children every day," he said.

On this occasion, Sudjatmiko also proposed that the concept of greening in the People's School environment not only uses shrubs, but also is equipped with fruit trees such as guava, mango, and star fruit.

"Children need a beautiful and pleasant environment. If there are fruit trees, they not only get shade but also can learn to love nature and get benefits from the fruit produced. This will be an added value for the People's School," he said.

Sudjatmiko appreciated the construction of the People's School as one of the government's efforts to break the chain of poverty through quality education. He hopes that this project can become a national pilot project that can provide new hope for Indonesian children.

"The People's School program must be a symbol that the state is present to provide equal opportunities for every Indonesian child. Therefore, development must be done well, quality, pay attention to safety, and environmentally friendly," he concluded.
