JAKARTA - Grab Indonesia together with the Ministry of Tourism held the Grab 5 Star Awards as a form of appreciation for local culinary business actors and MSMEs chosen by the community.

The event was the culmination of the Grab Bintang 5 Awards program series which involved 243 nominated Merchant Partners from various culinary categories in the GrabFood and Grab Dine Out services.

The nominees have been selected from more than 5,000 merchants who receive the exclusive 5-star badge on the Grab application, as well as following the public voting process which managed to collect hundreds of thousands of votes from the public.

In the event, there were 24 award categories given as a form of appreciation for the contributions of local culinary actors.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa said that the event was held as a form of appreciation for the contribution of local culinary actors in enriching the variety of Indonesian gastronomy while supporting the strengthening of the national tourism sector.

"This initiative shows that Indonesian cuisine has developed into an important part of the country's cultural identity and tourist attraction," Ni Luh said in his remarks at the Ministry of Tourism's office, Jakarta, Friday, June 12.

Ni Luh believes that gastronomic tourism has great potential in encouraging quality tourism, presenting authentic experiences and providing direct economic benefits for MSMEs and local communities.

Meanwhile, Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi said the event was the company's initiative to encourage the improvement of service and quality standards, as well as expanding exposure to various Indonesian culinary.

"We believe that culinary is not only a part of daily needs, but also a gateway for the public and tourists to get to know the richness of Indonesian culture," said Neneng in his remarks at the Ministry of Tourism's office, Jakarta, Friday, June 12.
