JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has denied the issue of power outages that have occurred in the Java Island area due to the depletion of coal supplies.
Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) spokesperson Dwi Anggia said the blackout was due to a technical fault and was not related to coal supplies.
"There is no definite shortage of coal supply. There are indeed some technical-related disruptions," Anggia told the media, Thursday, June 11.
He added that to overcome the blackout, his party had coordinated with PT PLN (Persero) as the national electricity provider.
"We have communicated with PLN to anticipate that this event will not happen again," he explained.
On the same occasion, Anggia also denied the potential for a wider power outage due to disruptions in the supply of primary energy to PLN.
"If there are issues that will have blackouts and others, it is not true, it is definitely not true," said Anggia.
Anggia also ensured that the approval process for the Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) of coal companies, which has been ongoing, does not interfere with the supply of coal to the plant.
Moreover, he continued, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has also implemented relaxation in the RKAB process by considering the needs of the industry and the availability of national coal.
"So far there have been no problems, especially the Minister has also clearly conveyed that the RKAB has a gradual relaxation, yes, seeing how the needs are, still considering the needs of the industry with the available coal quotas there. So there is no disruption related to the supply or supply of energy for PLN," said Anggia.
