JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) has completed the construction of two rest areas located at STA 71+000 Palembang-Betung Toll Road Section 3 Structure. The two rest areas are targeted to start operating in early 2027.

Director of Operations III HKI Defi Adrian said, the two rest areas on the Palembang-Betung Toll Road Section 3 Structure are on side A and side B.

The rest area was built with type A and equipped with various supporting facilities, such as small and large vehicle parking areas that can accommodate up to 255 vehicles for side A and 268 vehicles for side B.

Then there are public toilets, prayer rooms, restaurants, 10 areas for UMKM tenants, workshops, gazebos, open green spaces to waste management systems and utilities.

In terms of design, the rest area carries a modern architectural concept with a firm geometric shape combined with local ornaments typical of Palembang in the form of a tanjak on the building facade.

In addition, the design of the rest area also optimizes natural lighting and circulation, with the use of a roster in several buildings that have a semi-open design.

"This rest area is planned to start operating in early 2027, so it is expected to be able to support the improvement of services for users of the Palembang-Betung Toll Road," said Defi as quoted from a written statement, Monday, May 25.

According to Defi, the completion of the Palembang-Betung rest area Section 3 of the structure not only focuses on providing rest facilities for road users, but also adds value to the surrounding community.

"This rest area is expected to become a new space for local economic growth, especially through the provision of UMKM areas, the involvement of local labor and local service providers and suppliers," he said.

With plans to start operating in early 2027, Defi hopes that the facility can become a comfortable stopover while supporting smooth mobility and encouraging connectivity and the economy of South Sumatra.

"Thus, the benefits of this infrastructure development can be felt by the surrounding community," he concluded.
