Dairi Prima Mineral Promotes Local Economy through Cocoa, Durian, to Coffee Processing

JAKARTA - PT Dairi Prima Mineral launched a program to strengthen local economic-based sustainable agribusiness in its operational areas, especially in Sidikalang and its surroundings.

This program focuses on the development of flagship commodities such as cocoa, durian, and coffee processing. This step is part of the company's strategy in encouraging the creation of added value while strengthening the economy of the community around the mine.

Chief Legal & External of Dairi Prima Mineral, Radianto Airfin, said the initial stage of the program targeted 47 selected farmers out of a total of 200 participants who had participated in the commitment-based selection.

"This program is designed end-to-end, from cultivation to market access so that farmers are not only producers, but also agribusiness actors," he said.

The company implements Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to increase productivity and quality of crops.

In addition, support is also provided in the form of training, technical assistance, to the provision of production facilities such as fertilizers and plant vitamins.

Not only that, this program also focuses on product downstreaming to increase added value, as well as expanding market access to the national supply chain to the premium segment.

In the short term, this program is targeted to increase the economic independence of farmers and strengthen household resilience.

In the long term, this initiative is expected to reduce dependence on the extractive sector and encourage the transformation of an agricultural-based economy to a sustainable one.
