JAKARTA - PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur (Pupuk Kaltim) again made positive achievements in sustainability by winning the Gold 2025 Corporate Performance Management (PROPER) Environmental Management Performance Rating Assessment Program award from the Ministry of Environment/Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH).

This is the 9th consecutive time that Kaltim Fertilizer has won the highest award from the government given to business actors who support the management of the environment and society.

The award was presented directly by the Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq to the President Director of Kaltim Fertilizer, Gusrizal, at the award ceremony at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Gusrizal said that this achievement shows Pupuk Kaltim's commitment to implementing the principle of beyond compliance, by not only focusing on regulatory compliance, but also encouraging innovation that has a direct impact on the environment and society.

"This achievement reflects the commitment of Kaltim Fertilizer to exceed compliance with regulations, by presenting various innovations that provide real benefits for the environment and society," said Gusrizal.

This success is supported by various flagship innovations carried out by the company throughout 2025, both in terms of social innovation, eco-innovation, and the application of carbon economics to support the sustainability of the company. Pupuk Kaltim has consistently integrated the principles of sustainability into all business lines, including through strengthening operational efficiency and developing environmentally friendly products.

In terms of social innovation, Kaltim Fertilizer presents the PKT BISA program (Integrated Area Development Based on Agroenergy System Integration) which encourages the use of agricultural and livestock waste as an alternative energy biogas, while supporting the increase in community agricultural productivity.

This program integrates the agricultural, livestock, and renewable energy sectors in one integrated area. In addition, the company also runs the TAMASYA (Child Care Park) program as a form of contribution to community empowerment, especially in improving child care quality and family welfare around the operational area.

On the environmental side, Kaltim Fertilizer strengthens eco-innovation through the Road to Zero Waste concept, which encourages independent and sustainable waste management. This initiative is part of the company's efforts to reduce dependence on landfills, while creating added value from waste. Through this eco-innovation, waste is considered a valuable resource and with proper management will provide benefits not only for the company, but also for the surrounding community.

Sustainability commitment is also realized through the implementation of Carbon Economic Value (NEK), including through the construction of Solar Power Plant (PLTS). To date, Kaltim Fertilizer has realized the construction of PLTS phase 1 in 2022 with a capacity of 1.2 Megawatts (MW) and phase 2 in 2024 with a capacity of 2.6 MW.

In the future, Kaltim Fertilizer plans to build a 2.3 MW capacity solar power plant in 2026, as well as plans for cooperation in the utilization of CO2. The implementation of this Carbon Economic Value is a strategic step for Kaltim Fertilizer in supporting emission reduction targets, as well as strengthening commitment towards a low-carbon company.

On the operational side, Pupuk Kaltim also continues to strengthen efficiency and performance excellence through various initiatives, including the Ammonia Plant-2 Revamping, as well as downstream and diversification initiatives such as the development of a soda ash plant.

"In the future, Kaltim Fertilizer will continue to strengthen the implementation of sustainability programs through social innovation, eco-innovation, and the development of renewable energy to support sustainable development in Indonesia," concluded Gusrizal.
