JAKARTA - Along with the increasing use of electric vehicles in Indonesia and the push towards a clean energy transition, the need for reliable and easily accessible charging infrastructure is also continuing to grow significantly.

Responding to this need, Summarecon Mall Bekasi (SMB) proves its commitment by presenting an integrated and sustainable future infrastructure through the SPKLU (Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station) Signature with the largest and first electric power capacity in Indonesia.

Held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, the inauguration ceremony was carried out by the Deputy Mayor of Bekasi, Dr. Abdul Harris Bobihoe, M.Si., General Manager of PLN UID West Java, Sugeng Widodo, Center Director of Summarecon Mall Bekasi, Ugi Cahyono, and Owner of PT Usaha Chunlan Indonesia, Edi Amin. The series of inaugurations was marked by a ribbon-cutting procession and was followed by a symbolic charging of electric vehicles (charging EV) as a marker for the official operation of the SPKLU Signature at Summarecon Mall Bekasi.

Unlike SPKLU in general, SPKLU Signature at Summarecon Mall Bekasi with a capacity of 2.7 MVA (Megavolt Ampere), is equipped with 10 DC Ultra Fast Charging machines with a capacity of 240 kW per unit and a total of 20 connectors that allow fast charging simultaneously up to 20 electric vehicles. With this capacity, charging from 20 percent to 80 percent can be achieved in about 20 minutes.

Ugi Cahyono as the Center Director of Summarecon Mall Bekasi stated, as one of the largest lifestyle destinations in Bekasi City with dynamic visitor traffic, as well as visitor profiles that are increasingly adaptive to the latest and sustainable lifestyles, Summarecon Mall Bekasi is a strategic location for the development of electric vehicle infrastructure.

"The presence of SPKLU is expected to provide added value for visitors by providing convenience in shopping and ease of charging electric vehicles in an integrated ecosystem, without having to move places," he said.

This SPKLU is the result of collaboration between 3 institutions, namely PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) UP3 Bekasi, PT Usaha Chunlan Indonesia (UCI) and Summarecon Mall Bekasi (SMB). The presence of this facility is a tangible step in supporting the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, as well as answering the needs of EV users for fast, efficient, and convenient charging.

In addition, the wider use of electric vehicles is expected to contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and supporting the creation of a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment.
