JAKARTA - Hundreds of Pertamina Patra Niaga sailors continue to carry out their duties at sea to ensure the smooth running of national energy distribution.
Deputy Vice President of Relation III PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Alih Istik Wahyuni said that the role of sailors is crucial in maintaining the smooth distribution of national energy, especially during the Ramadan and Idulfitri periods which are synonymous with increased energy consumption.
"Through a sea-based distribution channel, energy is distributed to various regions in Indonesia, including areas that depend on maritime access," said Alih in a statement to the media, Saturday, March 21.
He added, in the period of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H, more than 345 Pertamina Patra Niaga ship fleets are on full alert to ensure that energy supply remains safe and secure. The sailors are the front line in the distribution chain, ensuring that energy is available on time throughout Indonesia.
"The dedication of these sailors is a reminder behind the comfort of the community in celebrating Eid al-Fitr, there is an important role for people who continue to work tirelessly," continued Alih.
One of them is Captain Arendra, a sailor who serves on the Pertamina Gas 2 Ship. This year is the third time for Captain Arendra to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the middle of the ocean. He admitted that the Eid al-Fitr moment was the most difficult time because he had to be away from his family, especially his wife and children.
"When the takbir sounds, it's the moment that feels the most. Usually, we gather with our families, now we can only do it through video calls. But this has become part of our responsibility, to ensure that energy continues to reach the community," said Arendra.
Captain Basuki, one of the sailors who also served to maintain the smooth distribution of energy at sea, also felt a similar story. For Basuki, Eid is not only about celebration, but also about carrying out the mandate to ensure that energy is still available for people throughout the country.
"Even though we can't get together with our families, we on the ship are like a second family. We support each other and continue to carry out our duties with full responsibility. There is a sense of pride when I and the crew of the Pertamina Gas 1 ship can continue to contribute to the community at such an important moment," said Basuki.
Even though they are far from their families, the atmosphere of Eid is still warm on board. The sailors perform Eid prayers together on the deck of the ship and share simple dishes, strengthening the unity between the crew in the midst of limitations.
