JAKARTA - The government ensures that the price of carcass beef remains under control at Rp107,000 per kilogram (kg) ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.
This step was taken after a unilateral price increase to the range of Rp. 110,000 per kg.
The increase in the price of beef was carried out by one of the distributors who is a partner of the Sinar Mulya Tengki Animal Cutting House.
The distributor is confirmed to have lowered the maximum price back to Rp. 107,000 per kg until Eid al-Fitr.
Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization of Bapanas I Gusti Ketut Astawa reminded food business actors not to raise prices during Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr, especially for strategic commodities such as beef.
"We understand according to the direction of the Head of Bapanas who is also the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Andi Amran Sulaimanbahwa the price of beef must be maintained for the public. The government has set prices ranging from feedlot, RPH to retailers. Of course, if someone violates it, the government will certainly take firm and measured action," said Ketut in an official statement, Friday, March 13.
In addition to price supervision, the government has also taken stabilization steps through joint market operations with food SOEs. Ketut said PT Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia and PT Berdikari had committed to strengthening the beef market operation until Eid al-Fitr.
"We have also agreed with PPI and Berdikari to carry out operations on the beef market until Eid al-Fitr. Beef and buffalo stock can be accessed by the public at a more affordable price. So not only ensuring the appropriateness of selling prices in the market, the government is also working with SOEs to accelerate access to cheap food," he said.
Based on Bapanas monitoring, the development of beef prices nationwide during Ramadan is still relatively under control.
Before Ramadan, the price was at Rp143,048 per kilogram on February 15.
However, as of March 11, it was recorded to have decreased by around 1.64 percent to Rp140,698 per kilogram.
Meanwhile, based on the Price Development Index (IPH) released by the Central Statistics Agency, the number of regions that experienced a decline in beef prices increased in the first week of March 2026 to 48 regencies/cities. This figure is the highest in the last month.
Bapanas projects the public's consumption needs for beef and buffalo in March 2026 to reach around 65,800 tons.
Meanwhile, the availability of national supplies is estimated at around 226,000 tons, so it is considered safe to meet the needs of the community until Eid al-Fitr.
Meanwhile, the Manager of the Sinar Mulya Tengki Ibnu Abbas RPH said that he had given a warning to the distributor partners who unilaterally raised prices.
He ensured that the price had been returned in accordance with government directives.
"We have given a warning to CV Keysya regarding the unilateral price increase and we ask that as of March 11 (March) evening, the price has dropped to Rp. 107,000 per kilogram, (in the form of) carcasses. We will monitor it as much as possible until the holiday," said Ibnu Abbas.
On various occasions, the Head of Bapanas who is also the Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized that the government has asked importers to release meat stocks during Ramadan until Eid al-Fitr so that prices remain stable.
"We have asked, everyone must remove the meat. Don't let the price go up. If there are producers who raise it, especially feedloter, raise the cattle, I will withdraw the permit and not be allowed to import again. That price increase is at the big distributor, the middleman," said Amran.
He also ensured that the government would take firm action against middlemen who were the cause of the anomaly in the price of beef in the market.
"We ask the Food Task Force throughout Indonesia, if necessary, just seal it immediately. It must not be forgiven. Now we agree that it is no longer because of production, but the actions of a few people but it is a nuisance for millions of Indonesian people. We ask that it should not go up. Dirkrimsus just asked the distributor, he was chased," said Amran.
