JAKARTA - The construction of a permanent bridge in Salah Sirong Village, Jeumpa District, Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, is planned to begin in April 2026.

The bridge to be built is a B-type steel truss bridge with a span of 80 meters. The structure was chosen because it was considered effective for accelerating the recovery of connectivity while providing a better level of safety for road users after the flood in late November 2025.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the technical design of the bridge is still in the finalization stage.

"After the process is completed, the main construction work is planned to begin in April 2026," Dody said in a written statement, Thursday, March 12.

Currently, said Dody, construction work has begun with log drilling activities in three points as part of the initial stage of construction.

"This is done to ensure the condition of the land and technical readiness before the main construction begins," he said.

According to Dody, the construction work on the bridge will be completed in December 2026, while still prioritizing the aspects of construction safety and work quality. So that the infrastructure built can provide optimal benefits for the community.

"This effort is part of the government's commitment to ensure that regional connectivity is maintained and supports the smooth mobility of the community and the distribution of logistics in the region," he added.
