JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has prepared a number of strategies to ensure the smooth flow of Lebaran homecoming and return, especially on major routes that are predicted to experience an increase in traffic volume.

"The main strategy that we are doing is to ensure that all national roads are in stable condition, not potholes, and all road-related buildings are in good condition so that they are safe and comfortable for travelers," said Director General of Bina Marga of the Ministry of PU Roy Rizali Anwar, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 7.

He said the readiness of the national road network was also a major concern for the government ahead of the Lebaran homecoming.

According to him, the non-toll national road network of 47,603.39 kilometers (km) is currently in a stable condition, with a stability rate of 93.5 percent. Meanwhile, the toll road network ready to serve the homecoming flow reaches 3,115.98 km spread across various regions of Indonesia.

"To anticipate potential disruptions to the homecoming route such as natural disasters or infrastructure damage, the Ministry of PU has prepared a Disaster Relief Unit (DRU) consisting of heavy equipment, materials, and supporting personnel who are on standby in various regions," he continued.

A total of 1,461 units of equipment were prepared and distributed throughout Indonesia during the homecoming standby period to expedite handling if there were disruptions on national roads. In addition, various emergency response materials such as bailey bridges, bronjong, sandbags, cold mix asphalt, and other quick repair materials have also been prepared.

He said the PU Ministry also prepared 496 homecoming posts spread throughout Indonesia to monitor road conditions and provide technical support in the field. These posts serve as a coordination center for monitoring traffic conditions and quick handling if there are disruptions on the homecoming route.

As a source of information for the public, the PU Ministry provides a Microsite for Information on the Lebaran Route which can be accessed via the mudik.pu.go.id page to obtain up-to-date information regarding the condition of national roads and toll roads, prone points of congestion and disasters, locations of mudik posts, to infrastructure services available along the Lebaran 2026 mudik route.

Information services can also be accessed through monitoring applications provided by toll road business entities (BUJT) such as Travoy by Jasa Marga and HK Toll Apps by Hutama Karya.

In addition, the public can also submit complaints related to the condition of national roads and toll roads through the "Halo Pak Dody" service channel which can be accessed through the Instagram account of the Minister of PU @dody_hanggodo.

With the readiness of road infrastructure, support for toll rate discount policies, and various strategic steps, it is hoped that the 2026 Eid homecoming and return trip will run more smoothly, safely, and comfortably for the public.
