JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) projects that fish production will reach 1.73 tons during Ramadan to Eid al-Fitr 2026.
Director of Fisheries Port of the Directorate General of Fisheries Capture KKP Ady Candra said, in detail, the production of capture fish in January 2026 is estimated at 0.54 million tons and increased to around 0.59 million tons in February.
Production is expected to rise again in March to around 0.60 million tons as sea conditions begin to improve.
"This is a bit down because the pattern of the season and also the pattern of the catch depends very much on weather factors," Ady said at a press conference at the KKP office, Jakarta, Thursday, February 19.
According to him, this condition is a seasonal pattern that occurs every year. However, entering March, the KKP estimates that a transition to the transition season will occur, so that fishing activities are projected to begin to increase and encourage an increase in catch fish production.
In addition, Ady said, ahead of the Idulfitri momentum, many fishing boats, especially in the North Java Coast (Pantura) area, returned to the base port, thus encouraging increased production.
Based on the production volume per province, Central Java is the largest contributor with a production of 40,490 tons, followed by Jakarta with 26,471 tons, 20,737 tons in East Java, 11,501 tons in North Sulawesi and 10,189 tons in Bali.
From there, the highest average producer price occurred in Maluku, worth Rp69,884 per kilogram, West Papua Rp68,879 per kilogram, North Sulawesi Rp62,690 per kilogram, Jakarta Rp55,333 and South Sumatra Rp39,156 per kilogram.
On the other hand, the lowest production is in Bengkulu, Jambi, West Papua, South Sumatra and West Sulawesi, with the lowest producer prices in Banten, Jambi, East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan and the Riau Islands.
"It can be concluded that the supply of fish during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah will be available in a safe condition and the price of fish is relatively stable according to market demand," said Ady.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency, KKP Ishartini, said that the supervision of fish during Ramadan was carried out thoroughly by the technical implementation unit (UPT) under the KKP, covering traditional markets, modern markets to suppliers (suppliers), both in the center and in the region.
The activities carried out include socialization of post-harvest fishing/catching, certification and surveillance of fisheries, quality testing of fish dismantling to sampling of free contamination test.
"From the results that were carried out yesterday at several UPT, this monitoring of quality is carried out at fish processing places, modern markets, traditional markets, taking samples and testing fresh fish. Then, the results show that the fish are sold there in a safe condition to be consumed," he said.
