JAKARTA - The government continues to strengthen policy synergies to maintain national economic stability and certainty amid global uncertainty.

The economic diplomacy pursued is aimed at generating tangible benefits for Indonesia, ranging from increasing industrial productivity, expanding market access, to strengthening its position in the global supply chain.

To ensure the readiness of the strategic agenda, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto held a meeting with a number of Cabinet ministers ahead of his visit to the United States and this meeting aims to align policy positions as well as mature economic negotiation strategies.

Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Haryo Limanseto said that the meeting discussed the progress of the Indonesia-United States negotiations.

"The meeting discussed the update on the Indonesia-American negotiations and the President conveyed that he plans to be in the United States on the 19th. Around that date, the signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) is planned to be carried out," he said in a statement, Monday, February 16.

Haryo added that the series of activities will also include business and investment meetings between Indonesian and US business actors, as part of the series of events for the signing of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the US President.

In the meeting in Hambalang, Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining Indonesia's position to remain strong and measured ahead of various international agendas, including meetings with the US Government.

In addition, he directed that every negotiation was able to strengthen the national industry, increase domestic productivity, and expand Indonesia's contribution to the global supply chain, without neglecting national interests.

The President also emphasized that every economic policy must have a direct impact on the community, not only stop at formal agreements, but also encourage the creation of jobs, increase industrial added value, and people's welfare.

In substance, the tariff negotiations have been completed and the two countries have completed the legal drafting harmonization process.

In the agreement, Indonesia committed to removing import duties for most products from the United States.

In contrast, the US lowered the reciprocal tariff on Indonesian products from 32 percent to 19 percent, and provided tariff exemptions for a number of flagship commodities such as palm oil (CPO), coffee, and cocoa.

In addition to the trade agenda, the President's visit also includes participation in the Board of Peace Summit or the Gaza Peace Council on February 19, 2026.

The government views this momentum as a strategic step to strengthen Indonesian diplomacy at the global level while opening up new collaboration opportunities.

Haryo conveyed the Government's optimism regarding the results of the agreement and also added that Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto had departed for the United States to prepare and welcome the arrival of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.

"The presence of ministers in the field of economy in Hambalang before the departure of the President is a form of final consolidation so that Indonesia's position is solid in negotiations. We hope there will be positive surprises from ART that will benefit Indonesia," he concluded.
