There is a Discount Program, Purbaya is Confident that the Economy will Grow 5.6 Percent in the First Quarter

JAKARTA - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is optimistic that Indonesia's economy will be able to achieve growth of 5.6 percent in the first quarter of 2026 due to the transport discount stimulus during the National Holiday (HBN) period of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

"We give discounts to drag the economy," Purbaya told reporters in Jakarta, Thursday, February 12, reported by ANTARA.

The stimulus is a continuation of the previous HBN incentive which shows a positive impact on the economy.

On Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026, for example, community mobility and tourism activities increased so that they were able to drive economic growth in the fourth quarter to 5.39 percent.

"If the economic growth in the first quarter is projected at 5.6 percent," said the Minister of Finance.

The government is preparing an economic incentive policy in the form of a discount on transportation tariffs during the 2026 HBN Idul Fitri holiday period with a budget value of IDR 911.16 billion, originating from the State Budget (APBN) and non-APBN.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto in a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/2), detailed that for the train mode, the government provided a 30 percent discount on the ticket price provided by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or PT KAI.

The discount is valid for travel from March 14 to 29, 2026, with a target of 1.2 million passengers.

Then, for marine transportation, a discount of 30 percent of the basic fare is given by PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Persero) or Pelni, which is valid for the period of March 11 to April 5 with a target of 445 thousand passengers.

Meanwhile, for the ferry transportation ticket by PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), the discount rate is 100 percent for the port services component. The discount is valid from March 12 to 31 with a target of 945,000 vehicles and 2.4 million passengers.

As for air transportation, the government has prepared a discount of 17 percent to 18 percent for economy class and domestic travel throughout the period from March 14 to 29, 2026. This discount is targeted at 3.3 million passengers.
