JAKARTA - The government is preparing an economic stimulus package in the first quarter of 2026, one of which is through accelerating the spending of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program with an estimated budget realization of IDR 60 trillion until the end of the first quarter.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that the acceleration of the realization of MBG is expected to become a cushion for economic growth at the beginning of the year.
"MBG until the first quarter is estimated to have a budget realization of Rp. 60 trillion. This will certainly encourage economic stimulation," said Airlangga after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Wednesday, February 11.
In addition to MBG, the government has prepared discounts for the transportation sector to encourage community mobility.
The discount includes a 30 percent train fare, 30 percent sea transport, 100 percent crossing, and air tickets of around 17-18 percent.
The government has also prepared a toll rate reduction.
Airlangga said the total budget needs for transportation discounts amounted to Rp911.16 billion, with a contribution from the state budget of Rp639.86 billion and non-APBN Rp271.3 billion.
In terms of protecting purchasing power, the government will distribute food assistance in February 2026 in the form of 10 kg of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil to 35.04 million beneficiary families (desil 1-4) with a total budget of Rp. 11.92 trillion.
The government also set the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy on 16, 17, 25, 26, and 27 to disperse the density of activities before certain peak days.
Regarding the input of the business world, Airlangga emphasized that the government was aware of the surge in imports that could potentially disrupt the domestic industry.
The government, he said, has prepared protection instruments, including a safeguard scheme.
