JAKARTA - Danantara Indonesia is preparing a phased investment to develop a total of 18 downstream projects in various strategic sectors.
The six projects launched today are the first phase of a series of downstream projects that are targeted to run sustainably.
Danantara Rosan Roeslani's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) said that the six initial projects were part of a large plan to accelerate national downstream development which would continue to be developed in several stages in the future.
"This is the first phase. Because we see, there will be a total of 18 downstream projects that we will announce that we will complete as soon as possible," said Rosan at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, Friday, February 6.
The six initial downstream projects include the energy, mining, and food and livestock sectors. All of them are funded directly by Danantara with a total investment value of US $7 billion (equivalent to Rp. 118.2 trillion).
Rosan said that the launch of the next downstream project would be carried out gradually in the next few months.
Danantara targets that the next phase can be introduced starting March 2026.
"We hope that in March there will also be, in April there will also be. So this is continuously we do it continuously," he said.
The six downstream projects that have been launched include bauxite, alumina, and aluminum processing facilities in Mempawah, West Kalimantan; Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) 2 in the same area; Glenmore bioethanol plant phase 1 in Banyuwangi, East Java; and a biorefinery or bioavtur plant in Cilacap, Central Java.
Then, the integrated poultry farming project in a number of areas such as Malang, North Gorontalo, South Lampung, South Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, and West Nusa Tenggara; as well as the construction of a salt factory in Sampang-Madura, Manyar-Gresik, and Segoromadu 2-Gresik.
According to Rosan, before the projects entered the first stone laying stage, Danantara had conducted a thorough study.
The assessment includes the readiness of locations, resources, technology, business actors, to market prospects of the products produced.
"Because we always want to make sure that when we start groundbreaking, it will be completed. We don't want just groundbreaking, but then like in the past there were problems with the completion," he said.
