JAKARTA - The government is preparing a funding scheme for the implementation of the gentrification program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.

Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said that the budget for the program was estimated to not reach Rp1 trillion and was still in the initial calculation stage.

"Gentengisasi does not reach Rp1 trillion," he told the media, Tuesday, February 3.

Purbaya said that the source of funding for the gentrification program was still being studied, including the possibility of utilizing budget reserves, such as from the MBG post, as well as other sources.

"We also have reserves. (from MBG?)

"There is a possibility from there, there is a possibility from elsewhere," he explained.

He emphasized that the budget needs were relatively small because not all houses would be replaced with their roofs.

According to him, this program only targets houses that still use zinc tiles to be replaced with rock-based tiles that are more appropriate.

"But it's enough not to have a lot of money if you don't make a mistake. Gentengisasi is to replace zinc tiles with stone tiles that are former oil of all kinds," he said.

He added that the initial calculations currently circulating are still too rough because they assume that all houses will be replaced with tiles, but in reality only a portion, estimated at only tens of percent.

According to him, the budget figure for this program is believed to be controllable and will be smaller than the initial estimate.

"So the number should be smaller than what you hear, the actual number has not been calculated, it is only a rough calculation, but the number can be controlled," he said.
