Commitment to Quality Herbal Products, Sido Muncul Receives Award from BPOM

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (Sido Muncul) received an award from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). Sido Muncul is considered capable of maintaining the safety and quality of herbal products.

The award to Sido Muncul was given during the 25th Anniversary of the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Inagurasi Night. Sido Muncul won the BPOM Achievement Award in the category of Indonesian Herbal Pioneer - Indonesian Safe Herbal Marwah Guard.

This award is an important marker for the national herbal industry. Not just an achievement, but an acknowledgment of Sido Muncul's consistency in developing scientific, safe, and efficacious herbal-based herbal medicine.

Director of PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk, Dr. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat, expressed his gratitude to BPOM for the award given to Sido Muncul as a herbal company that is judged to consistently ensure the safety of its products through a scientific approach.

"This award is related to scientifically based herbal medicine. The category is Indonesian Herbal Pioneer, Indonesian Safe Herbal Marwah Guard. According to BPOM, we are the first company to apply scientifically based herbal medicine, its safety can be proven and its efficacy can also be proven," said Irwan Hidayat after receiving the award, quoted Sunday, February 1.

Irwan also emphasized that in the pharmaceutical industry, safety claims alone are not enough. Every product must undergo scientific testing. Therefore, Sido Muncul continues to commit that its products must pass toxicity tests and efficacy tests.

"A product cannot just be claimed to be safe. The most important thing for us as entrepreneurs is to make a product that can really be held accountable for its safety, through toxicity tests and efficacy tests," he said.

Furthermore, Irwan explained, the BPOM assessment is carried out directly and thoroughly. All Sido Muncul products fall into the category of products that must be safe, not only on paper, but proven through various tests.

Not only toxicity tests and efficacy tests, Sido Muncul also ensures that each production batch goes through strict inspections. Starting from pesticide-free, fertilizer residue, heavy metals, aflatoxins, pig DNA, to ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol contamination-free.

"All of this is done in every production batch, so that each batch has an analysis certificate," explained Irwan.

As a company with a large sales scale, Sido Muncul also routinely undergoes inspections and audits from BPOM. According to Irwan, this supervision can be carried out several times a year, both scheduled and incidental. This is considered important to maintain the quality and consistency of production, as well as a form of corporate responsibility to consumers.

Furthermore, Irwan emphasized that this BPOM award was also a reminder of the importance of maintaining public trust, especially in the era of fast-paced social media.

"Now is the age of social media. If the public questions a little, trust can be lost immediately. But we don't want to argue on social media. The most important thing is that we can convince that all Sido Muncul products are based on science, produced with qualified processes, and every production result is tested," he said.

Irwan emphasized that the key lies in product safety, factories that meet standards, and in every batch of standardized production.
