JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo revealed that land acquisition constraints are still the main factor hindering the progress of the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover in Padang City, West Sumatra (Sumbar).
This was conveyed by Dody when he directly reviewed the project location on Thursday, January 29.
During the review, Minister Dody was accompanied by the Mayor of Padang Fadly Amran to evaluate the progress of the construction of the flyover, which is one of the strategic infrastructure projects in the region.
"Liberating land is not that easy. Currently, I will ask the Governor (of West Sumatra) and related parties to accelerate and immediately realize his promise," said Dody as quoted from an official statement, Friday, January 30.
Dody said that until now, the progress of the construction of the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover had only reached about 12 percent. This achievement was also influenced by the unfinished land acquisition in a number of flyover corridor points.
"As stated by the Head of the West Sumatra BPJN, the progress is indeed 12 percent," he said.
He emphasized that the readiness of the land was a key factor so that the construction could run optimally.
According to him, the contractor had actually prepared heavy equipment and materials, but had not been able to work optimally.
"The construction manager has sent tools and has prepared materials, but they can't work optimally because the land still belongs to the community and can't be released. We hope that at the latest this month all (problems) will be resolved soon," said Dody.
The Sitinjau Lauik Flyover was built to increase connectivity and support the smooth flow of logistics routes, given the geometric conditions of the existing road, which are considered quite heavy, especially for freight vehicles.
"The current existing route is very heavy, especially for logistics transportation that is difficult to climb. With the construction of the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover, it is expected to ease congestion, facilitate logistics flows and most importantly is to reduce the number of accidents to zero," he explained.
In addition to highlighting the progress of the project, Dody also conveyed the traffic management arrangements around the construction site, especially ahead of Ramadan and the Lebaran homecoming period.
According to Dody, his party will prepare a post and place heavy equipment at a number of points to anticipate traffic disruptions.
In addition, heavy vehicle restrictions will be imposed at certain periods.
"We will prepare a post and deploy heavy equipment on the right and left of the road as needed, including arrangements so that large trucks that interfere do not pass through the area during H-7 and H+7 Lebaran. This is done to maintain the smoothness and safety of road users," he added.
