JAKARTA - The construction of the Red and White Fishermen Village (KNMP) in Poncosari Village, Srandakan District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY), has been completed 100 percent.
Chairman of the KNMP Trian Yunanda Development Implementation Coordination Team said that the completion of construction was focused on improving the quality of facilities and infrastructure.
"The completion of the Poncosari KNMP not only pursues the target time, but ensures that all facilities meet the quality and function standards needed by fishermen," said Trian in an official statement, Saturday, January 24.
Trian detailed that all physical work items in the Poncosari KNMP have been completed, including building infrastructure, cold chain facilities, and facilities to support fishing activities and the fishing economy.
The facilities that have been completed include the management office, supply kiosks, portable freezer warehouses, portable ice factories, coolbox shelters, fishermen's workshops, fishermen's houses, culinary centers, and net repair shelters.
Cold chain facilities such as portable freezer warehouses and portable ice plants have also been prepared to support the distribution and storage of catches.
Trian said that KNMP Poncosari was one of the locations that was completed according to the target in the construction of the first phase of KNMP in 2025.
The settlement is expected to be immediately continued to the utilization and management stage by the Red and White Village/Village Cooperative (KDMP), so that the economic benefits can be immediately felt by the community.
Previously, the Ministry of Manpower claimed that the construction of KNMP in 65 locations had absorbed as many as 17,550 workers.
Director General of Fisheries Capture KKP Lotharia Latif said that the absorbed workforce ranged from construction workers, fishermen to KNMP operational workers.
Latif assessed that the absorption of labor will continue to increase as the facilities, logistics of fisheries, and upstream and downstream service support are managed.
