JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo encourages the acceleration of the construction of temporary housing (huntara) for disaster-affected people in Aceh Province.

Dody targets that there will be no more residents living in tents when entering the holy month of Ramadan.

"We encourage as soon as possible to be completed. We all work hard so that during Ramadan, if possible, zero residents live in tents. We want people to be able to carry out Ramadan prayers more calmly and optimally," said Dody as quoted from a written statement, Wednesday, January 21.

Currently, Dody said, his party is completing the final phase of the construction of the huntara in Karang Baru District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. The construction progress has reached 98.75 percent and is targeted to be immediately utilized by the affected residents.

He said that the Aceh Tamiang huntara was built using the modular construction method with the Modular Lite (MOLI) system without heavy equipment. This method allows construction to be carried out quickly in the midst of post-disaster conditions.

"This construction is part of the package for handling the emergency post-Aceh 1 disaster," he said.

Technically, the 1st huntara in Aceh Tamiang stands on an area of 5,427 square meters with a total building area of 2,052 square meters. The huntara consists of seven residential blocks and a mosque.

A total of 114 modules were built to accommodate 84 households or about 336 people, equipped with 42 units of MCK, multifunctional communal area, drying area, prayer room, generator set and water tower.

The clean water support system comes from boreholes and tanks. Meanwhile, the wastewater treatment uses biotech systems and electricity supply comes from PLN.

Furthermore, Dody emphasized that the completion of the huntara before Ramadan was part of President Prabowo Subianto's direction that post-disaster handling was not only focused on the physical building, but also on the sense of security and comfort of the community in carrying out worship.

"That is the direction of the President. We provide full support to the community, especially in Aceh and West Sumatra, which are majority Muslim, so that during Ramadan they can worship more calmly, even in the post-disaster condition," he added.
