BPJPH Discusses Halal Obligation 2026 with the Ministry of Finance, BKPM, KNEKS

JAKARTA - The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) discussed preparations for the implementation of the Halal Obligatory 2026 program with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu), the Investment and Industrialization Ministry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and the National Committee for Islamic Economics and Finance (KNEKS).

The Chief Secretary of BPJPH Muhammad Aqil Irham in his statement in Jakarta, Monday, January 19, said this effort was a form of strengthening cross-ministry and agency synergy to succeed the October 2026 Halal Obligation which will effectively begin on October 18.

"This is part of the series of national coordination agendas of BPJPH in strengthening synergy and readiness of stakeholders ahead of the implementation of halal certification obligations for several types of products," said Aqil Irham, quoted by Antara.

Furthermore, he emphasized that the Compulsory Halal policy is a constitutional mandate in Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH) and Government Regulation Number 42 of 2024 concerning the Implementation of the Halal Product Guarantee Sector.

"Therefore, all relevant ministries and agencies are expected to have a common perception and align their respective sectoral policies so that the implementation of Halal Product Guarantee runs optimally," said Aqil Irham.

In addition, this discussion also explains the scope, stages, and readiness of regulations and supporting ecosystems.

Furthermore, there was also discussion regarding halal certification policies, including the crucial role of all sectors in the supporting ecosystem in the synergy of halal certification services.

He also explained the urgency of halal certification for business development, especially UMK, the ease of the halal certification process, the free halal certification program (SEHATI), and so on.

Meanwhile, the criteria regarding the types of businesses and products that must implement Wajib Halal 2026 are regulated in the Decree of the Head of BPJPH Number 146 of 2025 concerning Technical Instructions for Halal Certification Services for Micro and Small Business Actors Based on Halal Statements.
