JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) through its flagship product, KukuBima, in collaboration with Smile Train Indonesia and RS Hermina Bogor held a free cleft lip and palate surgery charity activity for 50 patients in the Bogor area and its surroundings.
This activity is part of the Sido Muncul corporate social responsibility (CSR) program to support the improvement of public health quality, especially children from poor families.
Sido Muncul Director, Irwan Hidayat, said that the social activity was based on his long experience struggling with the disease, as well as his belief that social contributions are an important meaning in life.
"I came to one conclusion, there is one most important thing in life, namely contribution," said Irwan Hidayat, quoted Saturday, January 17.
Irwan Hidayat said that at the age of 21 he had a severe illness that lasted for months. The long experience of going in and out of the hospital, including experiencing sleep disorders and a phobia of hospitals, was a valuable lesson for him about the meaning of health and empathy for patients and their families.
"I understand very well the feelings of parents whose children are sick from birth. The world seems to collapse. But my experience shows that not everything we experience is bad. It could be a way of life that brings good," he said.
Irwan emphasized that everyone has the right to live a healthy life and earn a decent living. Irwan also invited the business world to play an active role in supporting social programs, especially in the midst of global challenges and limitations faced by the government.
"The government cannot work alone. The business world must also be present and help the community in a positive and responsible way," he said.
He hopes that this social service activity will not only help patients medically, but also give new hope and spirit to the patient's family.
"If we live without greed and want to share, everyone can live a decent and healthy life," said Irwan Hidayat.
