JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) targets that the central cross-national line in Aceh Province will be connected again tomorrow, Friday, January 9, after the flood in late November 2025.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo explained that as of January 7, 2026, most strategic sections in the central cross of Aceh have been reconnected and functional, both permanently and through emergency handling such as the installation of bailey bridges and diversion to alternative routes.

A number of major roads have been reconnected, including the Bireuen/Bener Meriah border, the Central Aceh/Nagan Raya border-Lhok Seumot-Jeuram, the Genting Gate-Celala-Central Aceh/Nagan Raya border and the Central Aceh/Gayo Lues border-Blangkejeren.

In addition, the Batas Gayo Lues/South Aceh-Kota Kutacane section to the Kota Kutacane-Batas North Sumatra Province section can also be passed.

"This accelerated handling is focused on reopening land transportation access as the main channel for community mobility and logistics distribution," Dody said in a written statement, Thursday, January 8.

There are also several other sections that are still being handled, including the Blangkejeren-Batas Gayo Lues/South Aceh section, which had experienced a landslide in early January 2026 and is currently being handled with a target of returning to function on January 9, 2026.

Then, the Batas Aceh Tengah/Nagan Raya - Lhok Seumot - Jeuram section was tested for load on the bailey bridge that had been installed.

Meanwhile, the Head of the National Road Implementation Agency (BPJN) Aceh, the Directorate General of Road Construction of the Ministry of PU Heri Yugiantoro, said that emergency handling was carried out as quickly as possible by maximizing existing resources.

"We continue to make emergency handling efforts. There are still sections in the Central Aceh area that have not been fully connected and we are dealing with them," he said.

"Today it is open, but it still needs another transition so that it is suitable for four-wheeled vehicles. The report from the field on January 9, 2026 is already functional," he added.
