Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Netty Prastiyani, asked the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to improve the quality of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) to meet the target of 55 million children receiving the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) in 2026.

According to him, BGN's commitment to improving the quality of SPPG is a strategic step to ensure that the benefits of MBG are optimally felt by tens of millions of recipients. This is because MBG is currently entering a phase of quality strengthening after the service foundation was built massively throughout 2025.

"After the foundation of the program was built massively in 2025, the focus on improving the quality of services in 2026 is the right direction. The large scale of the program must be balanced with the quality of services and food safety that are maintained," said Netty in his statement, Sunday, January 4.

He admitted that the achievement of the development of thousands of SPPG was able to become the backbone of the implementation of MBG in various regions. Therefore, the next challenge is to ensure that all SPPG run with consistent service standards, hygienic, and friendly for children and vulnerable groups.

"Nutrition services are not only about the number of recipients, but also about the quality of food, kitchen hygiene, the competence of officers, and a consistent monitoring system," he added.

The politician from the PKS Faction also supports the strengthening of nutritional education as an inseparable part of MBG.

Because this approach is important so that the MBG program does not stop at food distribution, but rather forms a long-term healthy consumption habit.

"Nutritional education must go hand in hand with MBG services. Children and families need to be equipped with an understanding of healthy foods so that the impact of this program is sustainable. The implementation of MBG must continue to be monitored so that the strengthening of the quality of SPPG is really effective, including in terms of food safety, human resource assistance, and coordination with local governments," said Netty.

He assessed that MBG is a strategic investment for the development of Indonesian human resources, whose success depends on the synergy of the center and the region.

"With the improvement of service quality and strong collaboration between the center and the regions, we hope that this program can provide optimal benefits for the health and growth of Indonesian children," concluded Netty.
