JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK has completed the installation of two bailey bridges in East Aceh Regency, Aceh Province. The construction of the two bailey bridges took 15 days and 6 days respectively.

The installation was carried out in two locations, namely the Mengkudu Bridge located in Katimaju Village, Darul Hasanah District, while the Penanggalan Bridge is located in Lawe Penanggalan Village, Ketambe District.

The Mengkudu Bridge itself can be crossed on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 and the Penanggalan Bridge can be passed by the community since Sunday, December 28, 2025.

"We support the restoration of connectivity through the installation of a 36-meter Mengkudu bailey bridge and a 48-meter Penanggalan bailey bridge on the Central Cross Road section of Kutacane-Blangkejeren in South Aceh Regency, Aceh Province," said Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah in a written statement, Wednesday, December 31.

Technically, the Mengkudu Bridge has a length of 36 meters with an effective width of 3.7 meters and a truss height of 2.4 meters. The bridge has a maximum vehicle load capacity of 40 tons, so it can be passed by transport vehicles including trucks.

Meanwhile, with a length of 48 meters and an effective width of 3.7 meters and a truss height of 3.25 meters, the Penanggalan Bridge is able to be passed by vehicles with a maximum load capacity of 40 tons, thus supporting the smooth logistics transportation.

The Mengkudu Bridge is installed on top of a box culvert on the mountain stream leading to the Alas River. Meanwhile, the Penanggalan Bridge is on the mountain stream leading to the Alas River.

"Before the bridge was functional, access was cut off and the community relied on emergency lanes, including temporary access on the side of the box culvert in Mengkudu and crossing over the existing box culvert in Penanggalan," he said.

In the implementation, said Mardiansyah, the company worked on the assembly of bailey modules, the formation of a driveway, the installation of the bridge floor, load testing, and the installation of signs.

In addition, HK also deployed a 50-ton crane and an excavator, supported by 10 personnel with a 12-hour work pattern to maintain the timeliness of work in the field.

"Traffic flow during the work is arranged in turns without cross-hour restrictions accompanied by securing the work area and placing signs to maintain the safety of road users," he explained.

Furthermore, Mardiansyah said, his party continues to work to restore access to roads affected by flash floods. Bank construction and river diversion is carried out around the Natam Bridge River to reduce the risk of overflow that again disrupts access.

At this point, the flow diversion is carried out to the old bridge. After that, the land access is prepared with a pile. The goal is to connect the road from the Badar District to the Darul Hasanah District. The access was temporarily cut off due to the damaged bridge.

River normalization is also carried out in Simpur Jaya to facilitate the flow and accelerate the cleaning of flood-borne material.

In terms of connectivity, HK also opened a new access road on the Kutacane-Gayo Lues section and carried out mud and landslide cleaning on the Ketambe Access Road and Naga Kesiangan Road.

The opening of access was also carried out at a number of residential points, including Tangsaran, Tetumpun, Ise-ise and Rikit Gaib, so that the mobility of residents and the distribution of basic needs could resume.
