BANDA ACEH - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that the additional request for disaster handling budget of Rp. 1.4 trillion was submitted by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and entered the Ministry of Finance on December 18, 2025. Of this amount, Rp. 650 billion was allocated for disaster handling in the Sumatra region.

Purbaya made the statement at the Indonesian House of Representatives Post-disaster Recovery Task Force meeting in Banda Aceh, Tuesday (30/12/2025).

Purbaya said the government still had a disaster-ready fund of Rp. 1.51 trillion that could be disbursed before the end of the fiscal year. He asked BNPB to immediately submit a formal application so that the funds would not be wasted.

"The money is there, it just needs to be accelerated. As soon as there is a letter from BNPB, tomorrow it can be liquid," said Purbaya. He emphasized that the distribution of disaster budgets was carried out through one door through BNPB to facilitate verification and payment.

He also explained that, at the President's order, the government had accelerated the distribution of emergency funds of Rp. 268 billion for three affected provinces and 52 districts/cities, with an allocation of Rp. 4 billion per district/city and Rp. 20 billion per province, which he said should have been disbursed.

During the meeting, Purbaya admitted that he was surprised because the request for additional budget from BNPB was relatively slow and smaller than his calculations. He emphasized that if BNPB submitted a payment, including for the debt for the construction of the bridge, the funds could be disbursed immediately.

For the next recovery phase, Purbaya said the budget needs in the 2026 State Budget were estimated at around Rp. 51 trillion, even close to Rp. 60 trillion. He also said that he would propose that DAK or transfers to the regions, especially Aceh which was the most affected, would not be cut and returned to the 2025 condition, with an additional Rp. 1.633 trillion if approved by the President and the DPR.

"In terms of budget, we are ready. The principle is clear: one door, there is a letter, we pay," said Purbaya.
