JAKARTA - The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has facilitated two micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) to become fish processing units for fish export actors.

KKP helps meet the standards of sanitation, hygiene and food safety of fish as a condition for acceptance in the export destination country.

"Alhamdulillah in December 2025 KKP managed to send two MSME business actors to become export fish processing units (UPI)," said Head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency (Badan Mutu KKP) Ishartini in an official statement, Saturday, December 27.

The two MSMEs are CV. Karimun Mina Sejahtera which is an MSMEs business incubator of Diponegoro University (Undip). Last week, the MSMEs launched the first export of 7 tons of rice anchovy to Japan, which was attended by Minister of Industry Sakti Wahyu Trenggono in Jepara, Central Java.

Another UPI is the Santo Alvin Pratama Cooperative in Ternate, North Maluku, which has exported tengiri to Singapore. The Santo Alvin Cooperative in Ternate is a business unit that has received assistance from the Ministry of Cooperatives, both in terms of infrastructure and meeting international requirements.

"This cooperative can be the first export just four days after the Minister released the UNDIP-built unit in Central Java," he said.

Previously, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono emphasized that his party was always committed to supporting ease of doing business in the fisheries sector, especially export activities that bring in foreign exchange and absorb labor. To support acceptance and competitiveness, fishery products must be of high quality.
